Softball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Lehi

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Lehi ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over the Herriman Mustangs. Winning may never get old, but the Pioneers sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Lehi let Liv Davies and Mya Maughan run wild. Davies went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base, while Maughan went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one triple. That triple was Maughan's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Piper Emery, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Lehi kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in 15 consecutive games.

Lehi's victory bumped their record up to 22-3. As for Herriman, their defeat ended a 13-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 22-3.

Lehi has already played their next matchup, a 16-0 win against Corner Canyon on the 5th. As for Herriman, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 15-2 loss against Riverton on the 5th.
