Soccer Game Preview: Pungo Christian Academy vs. The Oakwood School

The Pungo Christian Academy Raiders will square off against The Oakwood School at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Wednesday, it was close, but Pungo Christian Academy sidestepped Albemarle School for a 3-2 win.

Meanwhile, The Oakwood School had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 2 goals) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Rams a 9-0 shutout. Considering The Oakwood School have won 14 matches by more than two goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Their offense was hitting Ridgecroft from everywhere, as seven different players booted in a goal. Lasse Peters led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by himself.

The Oakwood School's victory bumped their record up to 18-2. As for Pungo Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 8-6-1.

Pungo Christian Academy suffered a grim 12-5 defeat to The Oakwood School when the teams last played back in September. Can the Raiders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
