Volleyball Recap: Cristo Rey Comes Up Short

If Cristo Rey was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Horizon Science Academy on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cougar came up short against the Amanda-Clearcreek Aces on Saturday, falling 3-0.

The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-4, 25-8.

Amanda-Clearcreek's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gavynn Sowers, who had eight kills, eight digs, and one block. The dominant performance also gave Sowers a new career-high in assists (five). Channing Riley was another key player, getting seven aces.

Cristo Rey's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Amanda-Clearcreek, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-5.

Cristo Rey has already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against KIPP Columbus on the 2nd. As for Amanda-Clearcreek, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 3-0 win against Fairfield Union on the 2nd.
