Recap: Sandpoint Bulldogs vs. West Valley Eagles
Sandpoint had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against the West Valley Eagles on Thursday as the Sandpoint Bulldogs made off with a 7-1 win. The victory was just what Sandpoint needed coming off of a 12-6 loss in their prior game.
Jesse Turner made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Turner was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and a double.
In other batting news, Finn Mellander was excellent, scoring a run while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Parker Reichart, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Sandpoint's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-3. As for West Valley, they dropped their record down to 0-5 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sandpoint will challenge Bonners Ferry at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for West Valley, they are on the road again on Wednesday to play Shadle Park at 4:00 p.m. Shadle Park and West Valley are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
