Preview: North Raleigh Christian Academy Knights vs. John Paul II Catholic Saints

The North Raleigh Christian Academy Knights will head out on the road to face off against the John Paul II Catholic Saints at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully North Raleigh Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Friday.

Last Friday, North Raleigh Christian Academy humbled Raleigh HomeSchool with a 66-23 victory. The victory was just what North Raleigh Christian Academy needed coming off of a 68-45 loss in their prior game.

North Raleigh Christian Academy can attribute much of their success to Tristan Thompson, who scored 8 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 steals. Another player making a difference was Jayse Buckley, who scored 10 points.

Meanwhile, John Paul II Catholic pushed their score all the way to 63 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 73-63 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lawrence Academy. While losing is never fun, John Paul II Catholic can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 319th, while Lawrence Academy is ranked 141st).

John Paul II Catholic's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Caleb Knight , who scored 24 points, and Kyle Watkins who scored 21 points. The matchup was Knight 's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Latavious Moore was another key contributor, scoring 6 points.

The losses dropped North Raleigh Christian Academy to 4-3 and Raleigh HomeSchool to 0-2.

This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: North Raleigh Christian Academy hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 54.4 points per game. It's a different story for John Paul II Catholic, though, as they've been averaging only 56 per game. North Raleigh Christian Academy strolled past John Paul II Catholic in their previous matchup back in November of 2021 by a score of 67-49. The rematch might be a little tougher for North Raleigh Christian Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
