Basketball Game Preview: Pleasant Grove Vikings vs. Westlake Thunder

Pleasant Grove hasn't had much luck against Westlake recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Pleasant Grove Vikings will host the Westlake Thunder at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

If Westlake heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Pleasant Grove took over last week. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, Pleasant Grove made off with a 41-40 win over American Fork.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Westlake, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Lehi 49-47.

Westlake pushed their record up to 14-6 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.7 points per game. As for Pleasant Grove, their victory bumped their record up to 8-12.

Pleasant Grove took a serious blow against Westlake in their previous meeting back in January, falling 54-25. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Pleasant Grove was down 34-13.
