Football Recap: Dynamic Duo of Chap Chapman and Keyon Standifer Lead Athens Academy to Victory + How To Watch

Athens Academy extended their winning streak to three on Friday, bumping them up to 3-1. They enjoyed a cozy 28-14 win over the John Milledge Academy Trojans. The Spartans pushed the score to 28-6 by the end of the third, a deficit the Trojans cut but never quite recovered from.

A big part of Athens Academy's victory came down to the chemistry between Chap Chapman and his top target Keyon Standifer. Chapman threw for 245 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.7 yards per attempt while Standifer picked up 160 receiving yards and a pair of scores. With that strong performance, Standifer is now averaging an impressive 106.5 receiving yards per game.

Athens Academy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 208 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 208 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Athens Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Grayson Stafford, Ben Bush, and Standifer picked up one apiece.

Having lost for the first time this season, John Milledge Academy fell to 3-1. The loss was their first of the season.

Although John Milledge Academy took the loss, they still got scores from Parker Soltay and Bryce McDonel.

After each having a week off, Athens Academy and Commerce will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:30 p.m. on the 19th. The Spartans will be up against the Tigers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 31.75 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for John Milledge Academy, they will take on Bulloch Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Trojans will need to watch out since the Gators have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
