Soccer Recap: Kenwood Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Kenwood took a three-goal loss the last time they faced off against North Grand, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Broncos never let the Eagle Owls get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory on Tuesday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Kenwood's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 143rd, while North Grand are ranked 291st).

Kenwood pushed their record up to 11-2-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those three contests. As for North Grand, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-8-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kenwood will square off against Back of the Yards College Prep at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for North Grand, they will take on Disney II in a tournament on Friday.
