Basketball Preview: New Buffalo Bison vs. Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Lakers
The New Buffalo Bison will head out on the road to take on the Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Lakers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with New Buffalo sitting on five straight victories and the Lakers on four.
On Saturday, New Buffalo was fully in charge, breezing past the Mustangs 58-31 on the road.
It was another big night for Lucas Forker, who scored 25 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was James Shaw, who scored ten points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Our Lady of the Lake Catholic beat the Cougar 61-50 on Friday. Given Our Lady of the Lake Catholic's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 298th, while the Cougar are ranked 692nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
New Buffalo has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season. As for Our Lady of the Lake Catholic, they pushed their record up to 12-3 with that win, which was their third straight at home.
New Buffalo came up short against the Lakers when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 50-41. Can New Buffalo avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
