Football Game Preview: Maple Grove Crimson vs. Lakeville South Cougars

The Maple Grove Crimson will venture away from home to take on the Lakeville South Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Maple Grove is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They blew past East Ridge, posting a 55-18 win. Given the Crimson's advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota football rankings (they are ranked 25th, while the Raptors are ranked 163rd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, while Lakeville South put up plenty of points on Friday, the same can't be said for Mounds View. The Cougars simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Mustangs 37-0. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Cougars just coasted through the last quarter.

Lakeville South's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 33.2 points over those games. As for Maple Grove, their record now sits at 10-0.

Maple Grove beat Lakeville South 14-7 when the teams last played back in November of 2022. Do the Crimson have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
