Basketball Recap: Derek Daniels' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Montverde Academy over Southeastern Prep Academy National + How To Watch

Montverde Academy kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They lost 79-57 to the Southeastern Prep Academy National Falcons. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it four in a row.

Montverde Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Derek Daniels, who went 5-for-9 en route to 10 points and eight rebounds. Dhani Miller was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Southeastern Prep Academy National's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but CJ Rosser led the charge by shooting 47% from the field on his way to 21 points. The matchup was Rosser's third in a row with at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Beckham Black, who went 6-for-12 to rack up 18 points.

The victory keeps Southeastern Prep Academy National at an undefeated 12-0.

Montverde Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Wasatch Academy at 7:30 p.m. on the 5th. As for Southeastern Prep Academy National, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 75-73 loss against Columbus on the 22nd.
