Basketball Recap: Gateway Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Gateway put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They came within four points of losing the streak, but they secured a 44-40 W against the Martin County Tigers.

Leading Gateway to victory were Alyssa Marino and Ashlynn Day. Marino shot 50% from the field en route to 20 points, while Day dropped a double-double with 14 points and 13 boards. Day is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 30 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Jalissa Yarbrough, who posted five points and five rebounds.

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Karolina Ramirez, who earned 12 points. Katelyn Tanis was another key player, putting up eight points and ten boards.

Gateway's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Martin County, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Gateway has already played their next matchup, a 70-37 win against Sarasota on the 29th. As for Martin County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 46-45 defeat against Colonial on the 29th.
