Merritt Island is 7-2 against Titusville since October of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Mustangs will be playing at home against the Terriers at 7:30 p.m. Merritt Island has given up an average of 30 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Merritt Island came up short against Eau Gallie last Tuesday, falling 48-22. The Mustangs have struggled against the Commodores recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite their defeat, Merritt Island saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Kevin Verpaele, who threw for 246 yards and three TDs while completing 71.4% of his passes, was perhaps the best of all. Keith Hamilton was Verpaele's top target, picking up 39 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Titusville really took it to Astronaut for the full four quarters, racking up a 37-3 win. The victory continues a trend for the Terriers in their matchups with the War Eagles: they've now won four in a row.

Titusville's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB nine times. The heavy lifting was done by Zymerius Brown and Semaja Glover, who racked up four sacks between them. Glover is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last four games he's played. Titusville got some further help from Dwight Jenkins: he picked up a sack and made five total tackles (2.0 for loss) in addition to snagging an interception.

The win got Titusville back to even at 5-5. As for Merritt Island, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-4.

Merritt Island skirted past Titusville 31-28 in their previous meeting back in October. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Terriers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
