Volleyball Recap: Vista Grande Takes a Loss

Vista Grande was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 3-0 to the Douglas Bulldogs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Spartans of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

While Vista Grande was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-10, 25-22, 25-15.

Janessa Sanchez had a dynamite game For Douglas., getting 14 digs and three aces. Sanchez is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last 11 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Janessa Garcia, who had 23 assists.

Vista Grande's defeat dropped their record down to 2-15. As for Douglas, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Vista Grande will square off against Canyon del Oro at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Douglas, they will face off against Sahuarita at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
