Basketball Recap: Bastrop Comes Up Short

If Bastrop was riding high fresh off their 70-21 takedown of Smithville last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bears fell 63-59 to the Manor New Tech Titans on Tuesday.

Despite the defeat, Bastrop saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jamarion Aldridge-Hopes went 9-for-14 to rack up 20 points. Aldridge-Hopes also set a new season-high mark in shooting accuracy with 64%. Another player making a difference was Brent Carter, who posted six points and eight boards.

Bastrop's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Manor New Tech, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Coming up, Bastrop will take on Schulenburg at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday. As for Manor New Tech, they will challenge Giddings at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday.
