Basketball Recap: Mckinley Starts Season with Victory Against St. Vincent-St. Mary

McKinley gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They came out on top against the St. Vincent-St. Mary Fighting Irish by a score of 68-59. The Bulldogs have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Fighting Irish, too.

McKinley was led to victory by Anthony Chavers and Ed Webster. Chavers almost dropped a double-double with 17 points and nine rebounds, while Webster dropped a double-double with 12 points and 13 boards. That's the most boards Chavers has posted since back in December of 2024. Jaylen Elder was another key player, putting up seven points and three steals.

Coming up, McKinley is taking a road trip to challenge Archbishop Hoban at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for St. Vincent-St. Mary, they will take on Euclid at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.
