Softball Game Preview: Paris Greyhounds vs. Powell County Pirates

The Paris Greyhounds will venture away from home to take on the Powell County Pirates at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. Paris is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season.

Paris is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Bracken County just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They lost 20-7 to the Polar Bears.

Kay Oliver was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn White, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Powell County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 11-6 to Bell County.

Powell County saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madison Kincaid, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.

Paris' defeat dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Powell County, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Paris hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Powell County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.

Paris skirted past Powell County 8-7 in their previous meeting last Monday. Do the Greyhounds have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pirates turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
