Recap: Bucklin Red Aces vs. Hoisington Cardinals
It was a good run, but the Bucklin Red Aces unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of Hoisington by a score of 48-45. Bucklin has struggled against Hoisington recently, as their contest on Saturday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Bucklin lost, one person who can't be blamed is Sydnie Jones. Despite the final result, she scored 15 points along with 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Jones scored a full 33.3% of Bucklin's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Emmerson Kirk, who scored 8 points along with 5 steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hoisington to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kylee Hahn, who scored 8 points along with 7 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie Crawford, who scored 9 points along with 7 rebounds.
Bucklin's loss dropped their record down to 3-1. As for Hoisington, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
Bucklin will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Kiowa County at 6:30 p.m. Kiowa County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 140th, while Bucklin is ranked 42nd). Hoisington will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Smoky Valley at 6:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024.
