Basketball Recap: Holmes Takes a Loss

Holmes was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 21st straight defeat. They lost to the O'Connor Panthers on the road by a 62-47 margin. While losing is never fun, the Huskies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 951st, while the Panthers are ranked 172nd).

O'Connor's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jackson Schulze, who went 9 for 13 en route to 22 points and five rebounds. That's the most points Schulze has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Hagen Hurst, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 boards.

Holmes' loss dropped their record down to 4-29. As for O'Connor, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-11 record this season.

Holmes will square off against Marshall at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Holmes is facing Marshall at the right time seeing as Marshall is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for O'Connor, they will face off against Stevens at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. O'Connor is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.8 points per game this season.
