Baseball Recap: Arvada West Wins Going Away Against Vista PEAK Prep

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Arvada West). Everything went their way against the Vista PEAK Prep Bison on Wednesday as Arvada West made off with a 17-1 victory. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Wildcats with their most commanding win of the season.

Cooper Vais made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Tate Deal was incredible, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-4. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Levi Lueck, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Arvada West always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .647. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .515 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Arvada West's record now sits at 5-1-1. As for Vista PEAK Prep, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Looking ahead, Arvada West will take on Mountain Vista at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Vista PEAK Prep, they will face off against Eaglecrest at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
