Football Game Preview: Wellsville Eagles vs. Hayden Wildcats + Official Tickets

Wellsville hasn't had much luck against Hayden recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Eagles will square off against the Wildcats. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Wellsville is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They never let Parsons get on the board and left with a 50-0 victory. Give the Eagles' defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Armond Graves continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 133 yards and one TD while picking up 7.4 yards per carry. Payton Otwell was in the mix as well, providing Wellsville with two touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Wellsville was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 320 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 184 rushing yards in four consecutive contests.

Wellsville didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Austin Strenth and Dylan Strenth.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hayden). They blew past Columbus, posting a 70-7 win. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas football rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Titans are ranked 189th) , the win on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

The victory keeps Hayden at an undefeated 9-0. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 6.1 points on average this season. As for Wellsville, their record now sits at 6-3.

Wellsville was dealt a bruising 35-7 defeat at the hands of Hayden when the teams last played back in November of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
