Basketball Recap: Central Comes Up Short

After flying high against West County last Tuesday, Central came back down to earth. The Central Rebels took a 56-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fredericktown Black Cats. The Rebels were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Black Cats earlier this season, when they won 48-36.

Pj Reutzel continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Fredericktown, going 5 of 7 on her way to 19 points in addition to seven assists and seven rebounds. Reutzel has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played. Lauren Hale was another key player, putting up 12 points and five boards.

Central's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 11-3. As for Fredericktown, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-8.

Central will venture away from home to face off against Eureka at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Fredericktown, they will square off against Ste. Genevieve at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Fredericktown is facing Ste. Genevieve at the right time seeing as Ste. Genevieve is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
