Basketball Recap: Chaparral Takes a Loss

Chaparral was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were beaten by the Boulder City Eagles 64-8. The Cowboys were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-3.

Zamariyah Walker and Kiera Rose Abendanio certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Walker posted seven points and five boards, while Abendanio earned no points. Walker has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played.

Boulder City found their leader in freshman Kyra Stevens, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds. With that strong performance, Stevens is now averaging an impressive 8.3 boards per game. Another player making a difference was Makenzie Martorano, who had 15 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals.

Chaparral's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Boulder City, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-4.

Chaparral didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 31-21 victory against Cristo Rey St. Viator on the 8th. As for Boulder City, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 47-37 win against Pahrump Valley on the 8th.
