Volleyball Game Preview: Onalaska Hilltoppers vs. Sparta Spartans + Official Tickets

Onalaska has gone 9-1 against Sparta recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Hilltoppers will challenge the Spartans at 7:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Onalaska took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They blew past La Crosse Logan 3-0. The win continues a trend for the Hilltoppers in their matchups with the Rangers: they've now won eight in a row.

Onalaska never let La Crosse Logan on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. The final score came out to 25-17, 25-22, 25-21.

Onalaska found their leader in freshman Isabella Eckstein, who had four digs and three aces. Eckstein has been hot recently, having also posted 15 or more assists the last four times she's played.

The home team had come away the winner the last six times Sparta and Tomah had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Spartans put the hurt on the Timberwolves with a sharp 3-0 victory on Tuesday. The Spartans not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since September 30th (when they won 3-0).

While Sparta won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-15, 25-22.

Sparta's win bumped their record up to 17-12. As for Onalaska, their victory bumped their record up to 18-9.

Onalaska beat Sparta 3-1 in their previous meeting back in September. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hilltoppers since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
