Football Recap: Sterling Skates Past the Academy with Ease

Sterling's game two weeks ago was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 35-6 win over The Academy Wildcats. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Tigers also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2024.

Sterling's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Braydon Evans, who rushed for 115 yards and one TD on only 15 carries, and also caught one touchdown. Those 115 rushing yards gave Evans a new career-high. Memphis Dempcy was another key signal caller, throwing for 162 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Sterling was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 204 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 179 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

The victory snapped Sterling's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-3 record. As for The Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Sterling wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 42-6 defeat against Brush on the 10th. As for The Academy, they have also already played their next contest, a 25-8 loss against Fort Lupton on the 11th.
