Recap: Parrish Community Bulls vs. Lakewood Ranch Mustangs
The Parrish Community Bulls posted their biggest victory since December 5, 2023 on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Lakewood Ranch as Parrish Community made off with a 52-30 win. Given Parrish Community's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 94th, while Lakewood Ranch is ranked 270th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Parrish Community had a senior duo take command as Sarah Decker dropped a double-double on 21 points and 17 rebounds and Mary Portwood scored 16 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Decker is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Alexis Heuss was another key contributor, scoring four points.
The win makes it two in a row for Parrish Community and bumps their season record up to 12-5. As for Lakewood Ranch, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-8.
Parrish Community won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Palmetto at 7:30 p.m. on January 17th. Palmetto is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for Lakewood Ranch, they will be playing at home against Bradenton Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
