Softball Recap: North Marion Colts vs. Belleview Rattlers
North Marion was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Belleview Rattlers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to North Marion of the 12-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2023.
Lili Bedford made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Ainsley Grubbs, who scored a run and stole two bases.
On Belleview's side, they let Mackenzie Quartararo and Kiera Evans loose on the outfield. Quartararo scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Evans scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Lynnay Howard was another key contributor, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
North Marion's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Belleview, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-6.
North Marion will head out on the road to face off against Vanguard at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The last three games Vanguard has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Belleview, they will face off against Webster Schroeder at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
