Mitchell gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They put the hurt on Bayard with a sharp 46-20 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Mitchell also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2024.
Mitchell found their leader in sophomore Tavynn Taylor, who posted six points in addition to ten boards and four blocks. Another player making a difference was Alex Galloway, who had nine points.
Mitchell was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bayard only posted four.
Bayard lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Alayni Nesbitt, who scored six points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaidence Lee, who put up six points.
Mitchell didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 41-39 defeat against Alliance on the 6th. As for Bayard, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 37-17 loss against Crawford on the 5th.
