Sandia and Eldorado are an even 5-5 against one another since October of 2021, but not for long. The Matadors will head out on the road to square off against the Golden Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Thursday, Sandia came up short against Santa Fe and fell 3-1. The loss continues a trend for the Matadors in their meetings with the Demons: they've now lost three in a row.

While Sandia ultimately came up short, they really made Santa Fe work, particularly in the fourth set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 19-25, 25-20, 27-25.

Meanwhile, Eldorado didn't have quite enough to beat Capital on Thursday and fell 3-2.

Eldorado wouldn't go down easily and took Capital into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking five-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-13, 15-25, 26-28, 15-10.

Eldorado's defeat dropped their record down to 7-15. As for Sandia, their loss dropped their record down to 6-16.

Sandia was able to grind out a solid victory over Eldorado when the teams last played back in October, winning 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Matadors since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
