Football Game Preview: Soledad Aztecs vs. Stevenson Pirates

Soledad is a perfect 3-0 against Stevenson since November of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Aztecs will be playing at home against the Pirates at 7:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Friday, Soledad strolled past Greenfield with points to spare, taking the game 28-14.

Meanwhile, Stevenson strolled into their game on Saturday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They claimed a resounding 49-7 victory over Pacific Grove. Considering the Pirates have won five matchups by more than 27 points this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Stevenson's win came from a few key players Soledad will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Fin Mink, who threw for 378 yards and five touchdowns while completing 90.9% of his passes. That's the most passing yards he has posted since back in October of 2024. Stevenson's leading receiver Caden Olson was Mink's top target yet again, picking up 165 receiving yards and four TDs.

Soledad's win bumped their record up to 2-5. As for Stevenson, their victory bumped their record up to 7-0.

Everything came up roses for Soledad against Stevenson in their previous matchup back in November of 2017, as the squad secured a 35-0 win. Do the Aztecs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pirates turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
