Basketball Recap: Frederick Starts Season with Win Against Wootton

Frederick gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 38-13 margin over the Wootton Patriots. The Cadets pushed the score to 31-9 by the end of the third, a deficit the Patriots had little chance of recovering from.

Kyla Gales had an outrageously good game as she posted 26 points in addition to eight steals and six boards.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Frederick is headed away from home for the first time to face off against Catoctin at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The game will give the Cadets their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Wootton, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Quince Orchard at 7:15 p.m. on January 12, 2026.
