Basketball Recap: Sam Houston Extends Winning Streak to Three

Sam Houston had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They came out on top against the Hamilton Christian Warriors by a score of 72-64. This was payback for the Broncos, who suffered a 40-32 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Sam Houston's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Thatcher Guidroz, who almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine boards. Carter Malveaux was another key player, putting up 14 points along with eight assists and seven boards.

Sam Houston was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Seth Ned, who went 9 of 16 on his way to 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Javon Vital, who almost dropped a triple-double on 13 points, 11 boards, and nine assists.

Sam Houston pushed their record up to 9-9 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.3 points per game. As for Hamilton Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-5 record this season.
