Basketball Recap: West Port Wolf Pack vs. North Marion Colts
West Port was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 76-50 to the North Marion Colts. While losing is never fun, the Wolf Pack can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 575th, while the Colts are ranked 122nd).
North Marion found their leader in sophomore Lamont Sweeting JR, who went 9 of 10 on his way to 23 points and seven rebounds. Those 23 points set a new season-high mark for Sweeting JR. The team also got some help courtesy of Jerdarrius Jackson, who posted nine points in addition to eight steals and five assists.
West Port's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for North Marion, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-1.
West Port wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 63-28 defeat against Forest on the 10th. As for North Marion, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 57-40 victory against Eastside on the 10th.
