2A Region 6 recap Oct. 9, 2012
St. Joseph Catholic extended the longest winning streak in 2A Region 6 this week by beating Puckett, 47-13. The victory was the eighth in a row for the Bruins.
Amite County was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to fourth in the league. Earlier in the week, the Trojans triumphed over Enterprise 50-7.
St. Joseph Catholic's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Chris Hanneke threw for 44 yards and Charlie Waddingham had 37 yards receiving. On the ground Josiah Paulding chipped in 51 yards. Paulding helped St. Joseph Catholic's passing attack out by catching one ball for seven yards.
Flip Godfrey's team's Hanneke and Nick Beasley have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Hanneke has thrown for 646 yards this season, while Beasley, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 11 catches for 321 yards. Hakeem Carr from the Wolves leads the league in rushing with 547 yards.
A big matchup in 2A Region 6 this week will be when the Bruins take on Amite County. As it stands, St. Joseph Catholic is in first, while ROBERT RAINES's team is in fourth.
The Trojans led the league in scoring this week after putting up 50 points on the Yellowjackets.
