The Basic Wolves and the Foothill Falcons, after both having extra time off, will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Basic is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: Arbor View, who was ranked third at the time (Basic was ranked fifth). The Wolves came out on top against the Aggies by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday.
The victory didn't come easy: Arbor View scored at least 23 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 22-25, 26-24, 25-23.
Basic can attribute much of their success to Blake Bevell, who had nine digs and one assist. Elias Ramos also deserves some recognition as he had his first block of the season.
Meanwhile, Foothill hadn't done well against Arbor View recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Falcons won by a set and slipped past the Aggies 3-2. The win was familiar territory for the Falcons, who have now won three matchups in a row.
Foothill was actually outscored in aggregate across those five sets (112-108), but they still managed to win. The final score came out to 17-25, 29-27, 25-19, 19-25, 18-16.
Basic's record now sits at 17-7. As for Foothill, their record is now 14-8.
Basic beat Foothill 2-0 in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Will the Wolves repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
