Preview: Florence Gophers vs. Pusch Ridge Christian Academy Lions
After two games on the road, Florence is heading back home. They will take on the Pusch Ridge Christian Academy Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Florence strolled past San Tan Foothills with points to spare, taking the game 50-32.
Adrian Taufaasau and Logan Stenson were among the main playmakers for Florence as the former dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds and the latter dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. Stenson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Devin Cundiff, who scored six points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Pusch Ridge Christian Academy waltzed into their contest on Saturday with two straight wins but they left with three. They slipped by American Leadership Academy - Ironwood 60-59. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Pusch Ridge Christian Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ben Lambe out in front who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Lambe hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Hoke, who scored 23 points.
Florence is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. As for Pusch Ridge Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 10-7.
Florence beat Pusch Ridge Christian Academy 50-41 in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Will Florence repeat their success, or does Pusch Ridge Christian Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
