TCU-bound dual-threat quarterback has started two seasons at Guyer but his mother's job offer at DeSoto helps the Eagles.

Shawn Robinson, the nation's No. 3 dual-threat quarterback, transferring to
DeSoto (Texas) from
Guyer (Denton, Texas).

According to a report from Adam Boedekar of the Denton Record-Chronicle, Robinson's mother Andrea has accepted a girls basketball coaching job at DeSoto and that the entire Robinson family is moving. The former Guyer High coach hopes to start her new job next week.
That, by University Interscholastic League rules, would allow the TCU commit to be eligible immediately for the Eagles.
The 6-foot-3, 200-pounder threw for 1,422 yards and 14 touchdowns last season, but more impressively rushed for 1,568 yards and 17 more scores in his second year starting for the Wildcats. He tallied 7,216 yards of offense and 81 touchdowns in his two years at Guyer, and he played his freshman season at
Chisholm Trail (Fort Worth, Texas).
He's the No. 76 recruit overall and No. 3 dual-threat quarterback from the Class of 2017 according to the
247Sports Composite Rankings.
He'll be joining a team that already has a promising dual threat quarterback in
Courtney Douglas (6-2, 215), and also one of the state's most promising running backs in
Kelan Walker, who averaged more than 12 yards per carry.
Robinson has a trio of possible college receivers to throw to and an offensive line that includes
Hyrin White (6-6, 295),
Xavier Newman (6-3, 290) and
Edward Ingram (6-3, 315), all Division I prospects.
Both Guyer and DeSoto figured to be state — potentially national — contenders heading into the 2016 season. The two squads play at DeSoto on Sept. 2.
