Recap: Fountain Inn Fury vs. Powdersville Patriots
The Fountain Inn Fury were the 47-42 winner over the Powdersville Patriots when they last played one another on January 10th, but their luck changed this time around. Fountain Inn took a hard 57-41 fall against Powdersville on Friday. Fountain Inn has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.
Several Fury players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Chaniya Jackson, who scored eight points along with 13 rebounds and two steals. Jackson is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tori Bell, who scored seven points.
Powdersville found their leader in underclassman Makayla Assemian, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Assemian has scored all season. Amari Rambert was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Fountain Inn's defeat dropped their record down to 15-6. As for Powdersville, the win got them back to even at 10-10.
Fountain Inn will be playing in front of their home fans against Belton-Honea Path at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Powdersville, they will head out on the road to face off against Southside at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Carolina (Southside is ranked 102nd, while Powdersville is ranked 95th).
