Football Game Preview: Shelton Gaels vs. Amity Regional Spartans + How To Watch

After each having a week off, the Shelton Gaels and the Amity Regional Spartans will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Last Friday, Shelton was just a hair shy of victory and fell 26-25 to Sheehan.

Shelton might have lost, but man, Cole StPierre was a machine: he rushed for 140 yards and three scores. StPierre's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 101 rushing yards.

Meanwhile, Amity Regional came up short against Cheshire last Friday and fell 17-7. The game marked the Spartans' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Shelton's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Amity Regional, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-4.

Thursday's contest might be decided on the ground. Shelton has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 154.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Amity Regional struggles in that department as they've been averaging 246.4 rushing yards. There's a good chance Thursday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Shelton couldn't quite get it done against Amity Regional in their previous matchup back in September of 2024 as they fell 14-7. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Spartans' Cristian Luciano, who rushed for 157 yards while picking up 7.9 yards per carry.
