Basketball Recap: Ryan Elmahdi's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Salem over Alcovy

Salem lost against Alcovy back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Seminoles took a 45-31 bruising from the Tigers. The loss put an end to the Seminoles' undefeated start to the season.

Salem's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ryan Elmahdi, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 12 boards. Elmahdi is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Loriel Smith, who posted ten points and five boards.

Having lost for the first time this season, Salem fell to 2-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Salem is packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will challenge Mountain View at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Alcovy, they will square off against Locust Grove at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
