Football Game Preview: Gonzales Apaches vs. Wimberley Texans + How To Watch

The Gonzales Apaches will challenge the Wimberley Texans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Gonzales is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Navarro just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Friday. They lost to the Panthers on the road by a 31-14 margin.

Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Wimberley ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by Jarrell 35-34. The win continues a trend for the Texans in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won five in a row.

Gonzales better keep an eye on Maverick Jacobs. He was instrumental in Wimberley's win, rushing for 143 yards and three TDs while picking up 7.2 yards per carry. Jacobs has become a key player for the Texans: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Parker, who rushed for 34 yards and one touchdown.

Gonzales' defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-2. As for Wimberley, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Gonzales was taken down by Wimberley 59-10 in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Apaches, Cody Stoever (who rushed for 86 yards and a pair of scores, and also threw for 203 yards and a pair of TDs on only 18 passes) won't be suiting up this time.
