Softball Recap: Redwood Makes It 11 in a Row at Home

Redwood had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They walked away with a 9-5 win over the Hanford West Huskies.

The team relied heavily on Jaden Lopez, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and five RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Aubrie Jenkins also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Redwood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hanford West only posted an OBP of .323.

Redwood pushed their record up to 6-3-1 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Hanford West, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 8-2.

Redwood and Hanford West should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Redwood will face off against Clovis East at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday up 135 places (81 vs. 216). The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Redwood 2.1, Clovis East 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Hanford West (ranked 33rd) will meet Caruthers (ranked 510th) at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
