Baseball Recap: Washington Township's Win Ends Six-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Washington Township barely beat Tri-Township the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Senators blew past the Tigers 14-1 on Friday. The Senators' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Owen Gilbert and Nathan Weimer did most of the damage at the plate: Gilbert went 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI, while Weimer got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Those three runs gave Weimer a new career-high. Connor Parks also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Washington Township's victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-2-1. As for Tri-Township, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Washington Township will welcome Hebron at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Hawks' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Senators' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Tri-Township, they will host South Central at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
