Baseball Recap: Camp Verde Takes a Loss

Camp Verde managed to slip by Doral Academy Red Rock the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Cowboys came up short against the Dragons on Friday, falling 7-1. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Cowboys couldn't push the score so high this time.

Camp Verde's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Doral Academy Red Rock, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.

Camp Verde will head out on the road to challenge Williams at 1:30 p.m. on Monday. The Vikings' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Cowboys' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Doral Academy Red Rock, they will take on River Valley in a tournament on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Dragons 4, the Dust Devils 2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
