Basketball Recap: Lafayette Central Catholic Falls to Seeger in First Game of Season

Lafayette Central Catholic unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They received a blow on Wednesday as they fell 61-46 to the Seeger Patriots. While the Knights didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Patriots 18-12 in the first quarter.

Lafayette Central Catholic's loss came despite strong showings from Joey Metzger and Mikey Stapleton. Metzger shot 43% from the field to rack up 15 points and five rebounds, while Stapleton went 7-for-14 on his way to 17 points. Romeo Huerta was another key player, putting up four points and eight boards.

The win got Seeger back to even at 1-1.

Looking ahead, Lafayette Central Catholic will take on McCutcheon at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Seeger, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Clinton Prairie at 7:30 p.m. on the 6th.
