The Arroyo Valley Hawks will challenge the Jurupa Valley Jaguars at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Arroyo Valley will be strutting in after a win while Jurupa Valley will be coming in after a loss.
On Thursday, Arroyo Valley made easy work of Miller and carried off a 12-2 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hawks.

Jake Jimenez made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only a hit while striking out 13 over 5.2 innings pitched. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carlos Perez, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February of 2024. Roy Reyes was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Jurupa Valley unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of Miller by a score of 4-2 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Jaguars have suffered since March 14, 2024.
Like Arroyo Valley, Jurupa Valley also got a great game from a two-way player: Francisco Urena. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Urena was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.
In other batting news, Nathan Martinez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-3.
Arroyo Valley was able to grind out a solid win over Jurupa Valley in their previous matchup back in February of 2020, winning 4-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Arroyo Valley since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
