Football Game Preview: Lampasas Badgers vs. Marble Falls Mustangs

Lampasas is a perfect 4-0 against Marble Falls since August of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Badgers will look to defend their home field against the Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Lampasas is headed into the matchup having just suffered their biggest defeat since November 29, 2024 on Friday. They were outmatched by Stephenville and fell 49-7. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Badgers' biggest loss of the season was also their lowest-scoring.

The losing side was boosted by Jaden McElwain, who picked up 132 receiving yards and one TD. He showed off some serious burst, connecting on a big catch for 62 yards.

Meanwhile, Marble Falls played a tough contest last Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 65-7 loss at the hands of Stephenville. The Mustangs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-0.

Marble Falls has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Lampasas, their loss dropped their record down to 7-2.

Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Lampasas has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 228.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Marble Falls struggles in that department as they've been averaging 155.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Everything came up roses for Lampasas against Marble Falls when the teams last played back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 61-7 victory. In that game, the Badgers amassed a halftime lead of 41-7, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
