Recap: Stevens Falcons vs. Jay Mustangs
The Stevens Falcons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 72-58 bruising from Jay. While losing is never fun, Stevens can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 654th, while Jay is ranked 129th).
Several Falcons players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mya Guzman, who scored 18 points. Another player making a difference was Andra Stokes, who scored 13 points.
Stevens has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season. As for Jay, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 16-7.
Stevens will be home for the holidays to greet Harlan at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. Harlan is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Jay, they will square off against Sotomayor at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. Sotomayor is coming into the match hot, having won their last six games.
