Softball Recap: Rocky River Picks Up Eighth Consecutive Win

Rocky River waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They never let the Bay Rockets get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 4-1 back in April.

Reagan Kane made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

In other batting news, Maddie Sollars was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Maggie Heigle, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Rocky River always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bay only posted an OBP of .118.

Rocky River's record now sits at 18-7. As for Bay, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.

Rocky River will challenge Normandy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Bay, they will face off against Tallmadge at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Rockets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Blue Devils have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season.
