Baseball Game Preview: South Pasadena Tigers vs. Burroughs Bears

The South Pasadena Tigers will square off against the Burroughs Bears at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

South Pasadena is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victor by an 11-1 margin over Schurr on Thursday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Tigers with their most commanding win of the season.

Hanson Chan tossed a big game, pitching six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.

On the hitting side, Gabe Vogel and Isaiah Esquivel did most of the damage at the plate: Vogel scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances, while Esquivel scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Vogel also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Charlie Vogel, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Burroughs got themselves on the board against Verdugo Hills on Thursday, but Verdugo Hills never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Dons with a sharp 8-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bears.

South Pasadena's win was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs over those games. As for Burroughs, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.

South Pasadena was able to grind out a solid win over Burroughs in their previous matchup back in March of 2021, winning 5-2. Will South Pasadena repeat their success, or does Burroughs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
